L'accordo che c'era tra noi, che tu ricordi o no,
sì quello, e promessa di fede, che tu ricordi o no.

La delizia che su di me riversavi, il favore che a me dimostravi,

Le rinnovate accuse, i lamenti, le storie dolcissime,
l'adombrarsi per ogni nonnulla, che tu ricordi o no.

E l'intendersi a segni se l'uno all'altro di fronte tra estranei eravamo,
e l'aperto parlare d'amore, che tu ricordi o no.

Se uniti per caso, a dimostrar fedeltà lamentavi
i rimproveri dei tuoi familiari, che tu ricordi o no.

C'era un tempo tra noi desiderio, un tempo attrazione tra noi,
un tempo amanti eravamo, che tu ricordi o no.

Ascolta, anni fa una promessa facesti:

If chanced we to get together, to reaffirm our faith,

If there was aught that annoyed your heart,

We too had once each other loved, and frequently did meet,

Your getting cross on the union night, spurning all my pleas,
